Among the most deceptive targets in sporting clays is the rabbit. Rolling and bouncing along the ground, it appears faster than it truly is and consistently tricks shooters into missing ahead. In this video, The Clay Lab is joined by Laurie Daniel of Westside Sporting Grounds in Katy, Texas, to break down the keys to successfully breaking rabbits. Clay Target Instruction with Will Fennell of Fennell Shooting School. Will Fennell takes us through how to shoot Chandelle target presentations in sporting clays at events such as English Sporting, FITASC, 5 Stand, Super Sporting, Compak Sporting and other clay target or “clay pigeon” disciplines. A chandelle is a type of clay target used in sporting clays that follows an arcing trajectory and changes speed while in flight. Chandelles can be challenging to shoot because of their visually dynamic movement, speed change, and transition. A Chandelle target presentation can be thrown with either a Standard (108mm) target, International Target (110mm), Midi, 70mm, Battue, or even a Rabbit Target thrown as a “Rabbue”. We talk about how Chandelles are crossers, not droppers, meaning they move to the right or left for entire presentation distance they travel.
